How to merge PDF files

Select two or more PDF files, drag them into the order you want, and click Merge. Your combined PDF downloads instantly. Unlike other online PDF mergers, everySIMPLEtool processes everything on your own device — your documents are never uploaded to a server, so private files stay private.

It's completely free, with no page limits, no watermarks and no sign-up.

What happens to bookmarks, forms and links

Page content, text and images come across exactly as they were — nothing is re-encoded, so a merged file looks identical to its sources. What does not survive is document-level structure: bookmarks, the outline pane, and interactive form fields are dropped, because those belong to the original document rather than to individual pages. If you need a merged file to keep working form fields, merge first and rebuild the fields afterwards, or keep the documents separate.

Merging files that are not PDFs yet

Word documents, photos and scans have to become PDFs before they can be merged. Convert them first with Word to PDF or Image to PDF, then bring the results back here. Doing it in that order preserves quality better than converting a merged file afterwards.

Why the file size does not always add up

Merging four 1 MB files rarely produces exactly 4 MB. PDFs share resources internally — a font used in three documents may be stored once in the merged file — so the result is often slightly smaller than the sum. If the total is larger than you need, run it through Compress PDF afterwards.

A note on password-protected files

A PDF that requires a password to open cannot be merged until it is unlocked, because its contents are encrypted. Remove the password first with Unlock PDF — you will need to know the password; this is not a cracking tool.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to merge PDFs online?

On everySIMPLEtool, yes — your files are processed entirely in your browser and are never uploaded to any server. The merge happens on your own device.

How many PDFs can I combine at once?

There is no fixed limit. You can merge two files or dozens — large files simply take a little longer since your own computer does the work.

Can I change the order of the files before merging?

Yes. Drag the files in the list (or use the arrow buttons) to set the exact order before you click Merge.

Does merging reduce the quality of my PDFs?

No. Pages are copied across intact rather than re-rendered, so text stays selectable and images keep their original resolution.

Can I merge a password-protected PDF?

Not directly — its contents are encrypted. Remove the password first with Unlock PDF, which requires knowing the password.

Do bookmarks and form fields survive the merge?

Page content does; bookmarks and interactive form fields do not, because they are properties of the original document rather than of its pages.

Is there a file size limit?

No fixed limit. Because your own device does the work, the practical ceiling is your available memory rather than a server quota.
