How to edit a PDF online

Open your PDF, click anywhere on a page, and start typing. Add names to forms, notes to contracts, labels to drawings — pick the text size and color, place as many text boxes as you need, and download the edited PDF. Everything happens in your browser, so the document is never uploaded.

This editor focuses on the most common editing need: adding text. To black out content use Redact PDF, to sign use Sign PDF, and to rearrange pages use Organize PDF.

What this editor does, and what it does not

It lets you place new text anywhere on a page, which is what most people actually need: filling in a form, adding a date, initialling a box, correcting a name. What it does not do is reflow existing paragraphs — you cannot click into a sentence in the original document and retype it as though it were a word processor.

That limitation is not laziness, it is what PDFs are. A PDF stores glyphs at fixed coordinates rather than editable paragraphs, so genuine text editing means reconstructing the layout. Tools that offer it are approximating, and the result frequently breaks. If you need to substantially rewrite a document, convert it with PDF to Word, edit it there, and export back.

Forms with no form fields

Most PDFs people are asked to fill in are not interactive at all — they are flat scans of a printed page. Because this tool draws text onto the page rather than filling in field data, those work exactly the same as proper forms. See Fill out a PDF form.

Signing and dating

Type an x or a checkmark character for tick boxes. For an actual signature, Sign PDF lets you draw one with a mouse or finger and place it where it belongs.

Frequently asked questions

Can I edit a PDF without installing anything?

Yes — this editor runs entirely in your browser. Open the PDF, click a page, type, download. No software, no account.

Can I fill in a PDF form with this?

Yes. Click each blank field, type your answer, and adjust the text size to fit. It works on any PDF, even ones without official form fields.

Can I change text that's already in the PDF?

Existing text can't be rewritten directly (that requires the original source file), but you can cover mistakes with the Redact tool and type corrected text on top.

Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?

You can add new text anywhere, but not reflow existing paragraphs. PDFs store glyphs at fixed positions rather than editable text, so genuine rewriting means converting to Word first.

Can I fill in a scanned form that has no fields?

Yes. Text is drawn onto the page, so flat scans behave exactly like interactive forms.

How do I tick a checkbox?

Click at the box and type an x or a checkmark character, then nudge it into position.
