How to rotate a PDF 90 degrees

Sideways scan? Select your PDF and click Rotate — 90° clockwise is already selected. If it leans the other way, choose 90° counter-clockwise. Rotation only changes the page orientation flag, so quality is untouched. To rotate single pages individually, use Organize PDF.

Which way is 90 degrees

Clockwise turns the top of the page to the right — the fix when a landscape page appears with its top on the left. Anticlockwise does the reverse. If a page is completely upside down you need 180 degrees, which is two rotations in either direction. When in doubt, rotate, look at the preview, and rotate again.

Rotation that does not save

A frequent frustration: you rotate the page in a PDF reader, it looks right, you send it, and it arrives sideways. That is because many viewers rotate for display only and never write the change into the file. Rotating here saves the orientation into the document itself, so it travels with the file.

Only some pages are wrong

Mixed orientations are the normal result of feeding a stack through a scanner. Use Organize PDF to rotate individual pages from their thumbnails rather than turning the whole document.
